Soun-La Tradition Mandingue

Gorgeous traditional sounds from Mali. Lanaya are a young instrumental trio, all part of griot castes, deeply conversant in traditional Mande music. Here on their debut album they put their own spin on the sound with wonderful, extended improation, spting deep hypnotic grooves with lighter than air textures and cascading melodies. The group consists of Djibril Diabate on the kora, a 21-string luteharp, Fassery Diabate on balafon, and Mahamadou Kamissoko on ngoni, a small 7-string African guitar.
